The parish is what its people do together
Every ministry below welcomes newcomers, and none of them require you to have been here long. Ask at coffee hour, or write to the parish office. Descriptions are kept short on purpose — what each ministry is doing this term comes from the ministry itself. Where a name is given, it is the person the parish lists for that ministry.
Sunday School
Classes for the children of the parish during the school year. Children leave for class after Holy Communion has been served and stay until coffee hour.
GOYA
Greek Orthodox Youth of America — the ministry for young people in 7th through 12th grade.
HOPE
The ministry for the parish’s youngest children, before they move up to JOY.

YAL
Young Adult League — for the parish’s young adults, beyond GOYA age.

Ladies' Philoptochos Society
“Friends of the poor.” The philanthropic society of the Archdiocese; at the Nativity, Chapter #1087.

Dance Troupe
Traditional dance from across Greece, and the dancers you see at the Greek Festival.
AHEPA
The American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association — an independent organisation, with Mary Washington Chapter #290 in Fredericksburg.
Parish Council
Elected stewards responsible for the temporal affairs of the parish, serving alongside the presiding priest.
Chanters & Choir
Those who chant and sing the hymns of the divine services. At the Nativity this is a small group — roughly three or four people — who also perform the appointed readings.
Altar Servers
Those who assist the clergy in the altar during the divine services.
